Getting Ready for Harvest - Barbados 2012!!
Maybe I know what you’re thinking? Where is the picture of an amazing sunset over an incredibly beautiful beach in Barbados?? Well, it just wouldn’t be me if I put one of those up now would it? Instead I’m treating you to a more cultural experience: portable toilet, winding road and a glimpse of some sugar cane. I recently had the amazing opportunity to visit Barbados for work and pleasure. It really inspired me and made me think about adding more colour and culture to my world of photography here in the UK. There was some early morning starts, braving cliff-edges, splashing around in the ocean but what spectacular place to visit with a couple of rum punches thrown in. I love being a photographer.
Back in the UK and what a busy month it’s been. Enter the month of February. Interestingly it all revolves around the matters of the heart. It’s our anniversary (as in relationship), his birthday (as in my fella) and of course Valentines and all in the space of a week. As I’m feeling the vibe I will be extending my fabulous Valentine’s “Quickie Shoot” offer for couples until the end of April so get yourselves all dressed up and come on over – it’s a lot of fun and really good value.
On the 28th February I start teaching again at an Arts Centre in Reading. Duration is for 3 weeks and it’s running 2 nights a week. I will be offering a great introduction to studio photography, very informal and not at all academic-driven. The age requirement for this course is 14-19 years and there are currently some spaces still available. The best bit, the course is FREE. If you know someone that might be interested, please contact the Sports & Culture line in Reading on 0118 937 4048 or contact me directly.
But …lets got back to the side of the road in Barbados which perhaps I will return to. Maybe the portable toilet will be back in storage, the crops all harvested and the road full of folks heading out to enjoy the Crop Over Festival (Jul-Aug) – who knows. Perhaps I’ll see you there.
Thanks for your time.
