Santorini Wedding
What an amazing summer it has been. With my last blog entry back in June I was flying to Santorini the next day on my way to what turned out to be a very beautiful wedding. Santorini is such a romantic location to share your special day with family and friends. Simply gorgeous.
And speaking of sharing a special day, a couple of Saturday’s ago it was the 1st Wedding anniversary of one of my clients from 2013 and I was asked to photograph a hand fasting ceremony at one of the locks in Henley as a surprise for the husband. It was very romantic and such a special way to bond together. I also learnt that hand fasting is where the term “tying the knot” comes from.
There has been some fantastic music on offer this summer too and at some of the local venue’s here in Reading. In the last couple of months I’ve enjoyed photographing (and watching) The Stranglers, GBH, Easy Stars All Stars, Stiff Little Fingers, Tom Bailey and Andy Cairns to name a few.
July brought with it the return of the Guilfest down in Stoke Park in Guildford which I’m always mad-crazy to cover. It’s a fabulous mix of old and new with independent food and drink stores so lots to love. I always feel like I’m not following the crowd when I go there. Also on the festival front is the almighty Reading Festival which I covered with the brilliant team at Reading Post/Get Reading. (we were later informed our coverage was one of the best). It was also great to pop into the Comedy tent during the festival and get a couple of cheeky pic’s of Bill Bailey, Carl Donnelly and Simon Amstell (and of course to hear a few jokes). The coverage for the festival can be found at and some will be appearing on my personal website which I will be updating this month as well.
A shoot with DVision Images was one of the prizes for the “Has Reading Got Talent” winner this year and opera singer Stephanie Hershaw walked away with the top prize. This photoshoot has already taken place at the Malmaison Hotel in Reading which was so much fun and Stephanie was a delight to work with (and thanks to my assistant Roodle for helping out that day).
For something different for me, I recently took photographs at a muslim hen doo which was so colourful and beautiful, it was difficult not to walk away with some beautiful images. I love the diversity of culture and experiences my business brings me. It’s a lot of fun.
The portrait shoots continue at DVision Images which everyone knows I love to do and perhaps this is the right time of year for you to come see me; not too sweaty right?? Even with the recent gorgeous afternoon sun I can feel the winds of change coming and the chill in the air, Autumn is nearly here. Without a shadow of a doubt this is one of the glory seasons to be in here in the UK and photographing outside in the fresh crisp air with all those wonderful colours is an absolute treat.
Today’s blog picture takes me back to the beginning of this blog, right back to Santorini and literally about 5 minutes before this little lady said “I do”.
Thanks for your time.
